The Painted Caves
This past year we took a tour to the painted caves of northern Spain and southwestern France, in which paintings date from 17,000 years ago and which the French government has closed to the public. Our group was accompanied by Dr. Meg Conkey, professor of anthropology and archeology at UC Berkeley.
Of the many tours we have taken, this was by far the best organized. Our tour group was limited to 25. We traveled in a large bus. The food was gourmet and hotels were the best available. This intellectual and emotionally rewarding trip is given only once a year by International Art and Anthropological Tours, 322 Lewis St., Oakland, CA 94607; telephone (510) 465-5528, fax (510) 763-4431.
