Friends of Music Announce Lineup for Sunday Concerts

The Fullerton Friends of Music have announced their 37th season of free Sunday afternoon concerts, to be played at Sunny Hills High School, 1801 Warburton Way, Fullerton. Each concert begins at 3:30 p.m. (714) 525-9504.

* Oct. 6: The Angeles String Quartet will play Haydn’s Quartet in E-flat, Opus 17, No. 3; Korngold’s Quartet No. 3, and Schubert’s Quartet No. 14 in D minor (“Death and the Maiden”).

* Dec. 8: The Bachmann-Klibonoff-Fridman Trio will play Beethoven’s Piano Trio in G, Opus 1, No. 2; Ravel’s Piano Trio in A minor; Mendelssohn’s Piano Trio in C minor, Opus 66.

* Jan. 12: The Sausalito String Quartet, winners of the Grand Prize in the Coleman Competition and First Prize in the Fischoff Competition (both in 1995), will play Mozart’s Quartet in G, K. 387; Beethoven’s Quartet No. 11 in F minor (“Serioso”), and Smetana’s Quartet in E minor (“From My Life”).

* Feb. 23: The Pacific Serenades Ensemble will play Beethoven’s Piano Trio in E-flat, Opus 1, No. 1; Khachaturian’s Trio in G minor for Clarinet, Violin and Piano, and Brahms’ Clarinet Trio in A minor, Opus 114.

* April 20: The Meridian Arts Ensemble will play a “From Bach to Zappa” program, including works by Bach, Scarlatti, Debussy, Hindemith, Frank Zappa and others.
