Weekend Box Office

The courtroom drama “A Time to Kill,” based on the best-selling John Grisham novel, has elbowed the aliens of “Independence Day” out of the top spot at the box office. A high in Olympics viewership may have affected the moviegoing weekend, which was down from the same period a year ago. But despite earlier predictions that movies aimed at young males would suffer the most from the Olympics, two such films--the Jackie Chan stunt extravaganza “Supercop” and “Kingpin,” the bowling comedy starring Bill Murray and Woody Harrelson--fared quite well in their opening weekends.
