WESTMINSTER — A maintenance worker on Monday found a prosthetic hand, with a $2,000 amethyst-and-diamond ring still on the index finger, belonging to a woman who had reported it missing a day before, police said.
Laura Ferguson, 29, of Huntington Beach said she was at Westminster Mall’s food court Sunday afternoon when she lost her $7,600 silicone hand, which was in a shopping bag.
“She was taking it to a nail place for a manicure so that it would match her other hand,” Police Lt. Bob Amren said. “She had thought that she left it on the counter [of the restaurant], but when she went back to pick it up, it was gone.”
Police are trying to determine whether a crime was committed since nothing was stolen, including the ring.
The prosthetic hand, which was custom made in Texas several years ago, was found Monday inside the same shopping bag about 50 feet from the restaurant, Amren said.
