Changes Weighed for Bus Route D

Share

Concerned that a proposed expansion of bus service into Wood Ranch may not be necessary or wanted, Simi Valley officials will ask residents for more feedback on the plan.

City planners had proposed the expansion as one way to boost ridership on Simi Valley Transit’s Route D in the city’s western end. Although ridership on the route has almost quadrupled during the last five years, up to 25,830 trips per year, the route still has the lowest ridership in the city’s transit system.

In June, the city mailed a survey to 3,000 Wood Ranch residents, asking them to select one of three new expanded routes. But only 148 people responded. And the executive board of Neighborhood Council No. 1 voted against any expansion, saying it was not needed.

So Monday, the Simi Valley City Council decided to seek more input from the Wood Ranch area’s homeowners associations, offering them the choice of expanded service along Wood Ranch Parkway or no expansion.
