Keyshawn Johnson, the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft, agreed Tuesday to a $15-million, six-year contract with the New York Jets, acknowledging his 24-day holdout has left him behind in his quest for a starting spot.

“There are some things that I know, but there are some things I have no clue about,” Johnson said.

The deal includes a $6.5-million signing bonus and offers Johnson a chance to earn $2 million in incentives if he reaches two of four standards in each of the first four years--12 touchdown catches, a Pro Bowl selection, 85 receptions and 1,000 yards receiving.

Following Deion Sanders’ lead, Pittsburgh Steeler star cornerback Rod Woodson worked out at receiver for several plays.

Dallas cornerback Sanders is expected to replace Michael Irvin, who will sit out five games during a drug suspension.

Woodson, a former kick and punt returner who sat out most of last season because of a knee injury, is being pressed into service at wide receiver because of injuries to starters Ernie Mills (knee) and Yancey Thigpen (hamstring) and reserve Damon Mays (hamstring) and a holdout by Andre Hastings.

Linebacker Trev Alberts likely will sit out the season as he recuperates from surgery on his left shoulder, Indianapolis Colt Coach Lindy Infante said.

Meanwhile, a sentencing date has not been set for Indianapolis Colt tailback Vince Workman, who was convicted Monday of drunken driving in Columbus, Ohio.
