Health Systems Profit Down on Higher Costs: Health Systems International Inc. cited higher pharmacy costs as a cause for the 2.7% decline. The Woodland Hills-based operator of health maintenance plans said net income was $24.45 million, or 51 cents a share, compared with profit from operations of $25.15 million, or 51 cents, a year earlier. Wall Street had expected earnings of 53 cents a share. In the year-ago quarter, a charge of $2.19 million, or 4 cents a share, resulted in net income of $23 million, or 47 cents. Health Systems also said it’s delaying a $34-million restructuring charge, originally scheduled for the second quarter, until the third quarter.
