Stealth Falls Despite Sharron’s Three-Hitter, 2-0

The Southern California Stealth dropped into the consolation bracket of the 18-and-under Amateur Softball Assn. national tournament with a 2-0 loss in 10 innings to Orland Park (Ill.) on Saturday at Eden Prairie, Minn.

The Stealth (6-1) managed eight singles off Orland Park’s Jeanine Sonsini, who pitched a complete game. Jennifer Sharron of Thousand Oaks High pitched a three-hitter with 14 strikeouts for the Stealth.

The Stealth plays an opponent to be determined today at 10 a.m. PDT. With a victory, the Stealth will advance to the championship game later in the day.

Earlier Saturday, Cindy Ball of Camarillo pitched a no-hitter with 15 strikeouts to lead the Stealth to a 3-1 victory over the Oklahoma Stealers. Tashie Aguinaga of Antelope Valley doubled in the third inning to drive home Elisa Muran of Newbury Park and Michelle Notaro of Westlake. In the sixth, Jessica Mendoza of Camarillo singled and later scored on an infield error.
