Day Runner’s Net Income Increases 48%

Day Runner Inc., a manufacturer of organizers and planners, said net income rose 48% for the fiscal year ended June 30 on a 3% gain in sales.

Net income for the year totaled $11.8 million, or $1.79 a share, up from $8 million, or $1.25 a share, for the prior year. Sales rose to $125.1 million from $121.8 million. Net income for the fourth quarter rose 58% to $3 million, or 45 cents a share, from $1.9 million, or 29 cents a share, a year earlier. Sales gained 3% to $34.2 million from $33.1 million.
