Arizona School Bus Accident Injures 32 on First Day of Classes
Passengers said the driver of a school bus swerved sharply while setting down a beverage Wednesday, causing the bus to roll over in the Interstate 17 median and injuring all 32 people on board.
Many passengers were thrown from windows as the bus rolled over and over. Injuries included broken bones, spinal injuries, head injuries and at least one broken neck. Three people were in critical condition.
The students were on the way to the first day of class at Sinagua High School.
A student at Flagstaff High School who was in a pickup truck behind the bus saw it overturn.
“There were people flying out of the windows. It was crazy,” he said.
