Obituaries : John R. Jefferson; Retired Point Mugu Technician

John R. Jefferson, a retired engineering technician with the Missile Air Weapons Station at Point Mugu, has died. He was 64.

Jefferson was born Oct. 30, 1931, in Peoria, Ill. He moved to Ventura County in 1950.

Early on he was a pilot and owned a plane. He also enjoyed golf, bowling and traveling throughout the United States.

Most recently, Jefferson was employed with the USC Wind Tunnel and Rocketdyne.

In 1992, he retired from the Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing Division at Point Mugu. He began his service there in 1965 and retired as an engineering technician.

He was a member of Camarillo United Methodist Church.

Jefferson is survived by his wife, Roberta; brother Tom Jefferson; daughters Kathleen Matarazzo and Patti Wallace; and son Michael Stewart.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park, Camarillo, with Dr. Jim Decker-Mahin officiating.
