Moorpark Headed for World Series

It took three victories in one day but Moorpark’s Little League team is headed for the Little League World Series.

Moorpark beat Pearl City, Hawaii, 2-1, Friday night to win the Little League Western Regional baseball championship at San Bernardino.

On Thursday, Moorpark’s semifinal game against Issaquah, Wash., was suspended after 13 innings because of a curfew. Moorpark returned Friday morning and beat Issaquah, 2-1, in 16 innings to reach the championship round, where Moorpark had to beat Pearl City twice to win the double-elimination tournament.

Moorpark won the opener, 6-3, on a grand slam by Erik Johnson.
