Boy Saved by Ape Is Out of Hospital
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
The 3-year-old boy who fell into a primate exhibit and was carried to safety by a motherly gorilla was released from a hospital in Maywood, Ill. The boy is expected to recover fully, Loyola Medical Center officials said. Binti Jua, an 8-year-old, 150-pound Western Lowland gorilla, picked up the boy when he fell 18 feet onto concrete at the Brookfield Zoo. The gorilla cradled the boy in her arms and carried him to a gate where zookeepers could reach him.
