As part of the renovation of El Rancho Verde Park, a new 8-foot-tall block wall will be built along the park’s north and south borders.

The City Council this week unanimously approved the project, which had been recommended earlier by the city staff. Public Works Director Ismile H. Noorbaksh said a survey of residents near the park found overwhelming support for a new, higher wall.

“While we do not have 100% concurrence” among residents, Noorbaksh said, the city staff “feels by the time the design is completed, a satisfactory resolution can be worked out.”

The park is now surrounded by a 6-foot-high block wall. Noorbaksh said razing the existing boundary and building a taller one will cost the city about $42,000.
