Don Perata, a consultant hired to help sell Oakland Raider tickets and recoup the cost of renovating the Oakland Coliseum, has quit in frustration, citing disorganization within the Oakland Football Marketing Assn. Perata, a former Alameda County Supervisor and state Assembly candidate, was being paid $12,000 a month.

In his letter of resignation, Perata said organization in the agency that markets Raider tickets was a “public-relations disaster.”

“They are without a marketing plan and without a marketing director now,” Perata told the Contra Costa Times. “There is no context for where to go and how to get there.”

Former Ohio State wide receiver Terry Glenn, the New England Patriots’ first draft pick and seventh overall, missed the entire exhibition season because of a hamstring injury. Coach Bill Parcells, who insisted it was only a mild strain, was recently asked about Glenn.

“She’s making progress,” he said.

That comment has landed Parcells in hot water with his boss, Patriot owner Robert Kraft, and Kraft’s wife, Myra.

“That’s not the standard we want to set. That’s not the way we do things,” Kraft said.

At last week’s Patriot kickoff luncheon, Myra Kraft called Parcells’ comment disgraceful. “I hope he’s chastised for that,” she said. “It was the wrong thing for anyone to say.”

The Cincinnati Bengals signed wide receiver Tydus Winans, who was waived by the Washington Redskins. Winans, from Fresno State, was Washington’s third-round pick in 1993.
