Tamils Ambush Patrol; 29 Slain

Tamil rebels ambushed a police patrol in eastern Sri Lanka. At least 29 people, including 25 police officers, were killed. The largest rebel assault in more than a month occurred near the village of Kudapokuna, about 115 miles east of Colombo, the capital. Thirteen civilians were wounded.
