Center for Disabled Opens New Office in Laguna Hills

A nonprofit group that serves about 9,000 developmentally disabled children and adults has opened a new office in Laguna Hills.

The Regional Center of Orange County will provide education, recreation, housing and employment for an additional 1,300 disabled in South County from its new quarters at 24012 Calle de la Plata, Suite 200.

“Establishing a satellite office in South County will help us do a better job of reaching out to the general community,” executive director Bill Bowman said. The mission of the new site, he said, is “creating more opportunities for people with disabilities.”

The South County office is the first step in the Orange-based group’s expansion plans, Bowman said. The organization eventually plans to open centers in the north and west portions of the county.
