Diodes’ Income Drops by Half, Sales Slide 8%

Diodes Inc. felt the sting of the worldwide semiconductor slump as its second-quarter net income fell by half on an 8% slide in sales.

The Westlake Village-based supplier of semiconductor products to the automotive and electronics industries posted net income of $555,000 in the quarter that ended June 30, compared to a $1.12-million profit a year ago. Sales in the second quarter fell to $13.5 million, down from $14.5 million.

For the six-month period, Diodes posted net income of $1.4 million, down 33% from the $2.1 million it earned in the same period last year. Sales fell 7% to $26.7 million, down from $28.8 million.
