Group to Weatherize Low-Income Homes
Before the chill of autumn sets in, the Oxnard-based Commission on Human Concerns is offering a free house and apartment weatherization service to low-income owners and renters in the tri-county area.
By winter-proofing homes and apartments, commission members help area residents save money and energy during those brisk months. Under the program, commission members will install attic insulation, water-heater blankets, low-flow shower heads, efficient lightbulbs, caulking and weatherstripping.
Landlords must give approval for renters to participate in the program. For information, call the commission at (800) 655-6230, Ext. 129.
