Trojans Make Impression With Drives

Considering what USC’s offense looked like against Penn State, three of the Trojans’ possessions Saturday against Illinois were remarkable for not only their length but also their staying power.
There’s no category in the USC record book for longest drives, but it’s doubtful any USC team has registered scoring drives of 95 (for a 7-3 lead), 96 (21-3) and 98 (38-3) yards.
Starter Brad Otton directed all three.

Freshman receiver Stan Guyness will probably redshirt, Coach John Robinson said. . . . USC defeated Michigan, 14-6, in the 1977 Rose Bowl game. The score was incorrect in Tuesday’s editions.
