City May Charge Fees for Photo Shoots
Orange County attracted more than $2.5 million in direct revenue from film, video and still photography shoots in the 1994-95 fiscal year, and officials in Westminster want a piece of the pie.
The City Council recently directed its staff to draft a proposal for fees, insurance requirements and a formal application to film in the city, which is home to the ethnic enclave of Little Saigon. Filmmakers do not currently have to pay to shoot within the city limits.
The council is expected to decide on the specifics of the plan this fall.
