The Clinton administration said it will award $675 million in grants to assist programs for homeless Americans in 266 communities.

Housing and Urban Development Secretary Henry G. Cisneros said Friday that the money will help homeless individuals and families find jobs and permanent places to live by funding job-training programs, child care and treatment for mental health and drug abuse. Grant totals range from $358,020 for Montana to more than $110 million for California.
