Assembly Candidates to Address Chamber

Share

The Sun Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting voters in the 39th Assembly District to hear candidates Tony Cardenas and Ollie McCaulley address the chamber during a luncheon Tuesday.

Due to limited seating, reservations are required and there is a charge of $11 to attend the event, which includes a catered lunch. Assembly Minority Leader Richard Katz has represented the 39th District, which covers a large swath of the northeast San Fernando Valley, since 1980. Term limits are forcing Katz to step down this year.

Doris Jacobs, executive director of the chamber, said each candidate will deliver a 15-minute address and then answer questions from the audience.

Republican candidate McCaulley said he looked forward to the opportunity to address voters at the meeting.

“A lot of people think their elected officials are too removed, out of touch,” McCaulley said. “It’s important to listen to how people feel and to hear from them directly what they need and expect.”

Cardenas, the Democratic candidate, was not available for comment.

The luncheon is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. in the Chamber Community Room, 8128 Sunland Blvd.
