U.S. Lifts Threat of Halting Venezuelan Flights: The Federal Aviation Administration won’t revoke Venezuelan airlines’ rights to land in the U.S., Transportation Secretary Federico Pena said. Venezuelan authorities have made “significant progress” in addressing U.S. concerns about the safety of the country’s airlines, Pena said in a statement. After raising the possibility of revoking the carriers’ U.S. landing rights altogether, the FAA granted a 30-day extension of rights Aug. 10 while it continued to review Venezuelan aviation oversight programs.
