Two men were arrested Friday morning after U.S. Border Patrol agents and drug-sniffing dogs inspected their vehicle at the San Clemente checkpoint and found 121 pounds of marijuana.

The men were stopped at the checkpoint about 8:30 a.m. when an agent “detected their nervous behavior” and told them to pull over for a search, Senior Border Patrol Agent Robert Murless said. Dogs were allowed to sniff the Toyota pickup they were driving and detected marijuana hidden in speaker boxes and ashtrays throughout the vehicle, Murless said. The men, whose names were not released, were on their way to Los Angeles, he said.

Both men were arrested on suspicion of possessing an illegal substance with the intent to distribute it.
