Save Moorpark From More Development
* My family, as did many of Moorpark’s residents, moved here mainly because we were attracted to Moorpark’s small-town, rural charm. So I have to ask our Planning Commission and City Council these questions:
Will the high density building of 3,221 dwelling units proposed for Hidden Creek, and 557 dwelling units proposed in the Morrison-Fountainwood-Agoura project improve our quality of life, enhance our community character, or safeguard Moorpark’s desirable resources? I certainly do not think so.
Do Moorpark citizens want to compete with the increased traffic from more than a probable 8,000 vehicles added to our city roads? I certainly do not think so.
Do the homeowners of Moorpark want to pay higher property taxes due to the additional burdening of public services from 12,000-plus new residents? I certainly do not think so.
Please, members of the City Council and Planning Commission, stop and think about the irrevocable, long-term harm more development will do to our once quiet and charming town. Also consider the damage to be done to the wildlife that surrounds our city and the precious resource of what is rapidly disappearing in Southern California: natural open space.
