AT&T; Completes Spinoff of Lucent: AT&T; Corp. completed its spinoff of the telecommunications maker by giving its shareholders 525 million shares, the largest U.S. stock distribution ever. AT&T;’s 3.3 million stockholders are getting 0.324 share of Lucent for every AT&T; share they own. Lucent designs and builds networks that carry phone calls and the phones themselves. Lucent has been a high-flier in the industry since April, when AT&T; sold 17.6% of it in the largest U.S. initial public offering ever. Shares of Lucent have surged 69% from its IPO price of $27. AT&T; shares have plunged 20% since last September. The stock rose 87.5 cents to $52.25. Lucent and AT&T; will begin trading today as separate companies.
