District Delays Report on Probe of Molestation Case

Share

A report on results of an investigation into the molestation of a third-grader at 59th Street Elementary School was delayed a week on Monday, while Los Angeles Unified School District administrators continued poring over 27 days of court transcripts.

The 1994 molestation, committed in the school’s bathroom by a severely disturbed 11-year-old, resulted last month in a $1.2-million civil judgment against the district, one of the highest damage awards ever for student-on-student violence.

Supt. Sid Thompson had pledged that by Monday he would bring forward any recommendations for action following investigations of the handling of the incident at the school level and the handling of the lawsuit by the district’s attorney.
