Myrna Lou Saftig, Volunteer at Local Charities, Dies

Myrna Lou Saftig, a former Orange County resident for 60 years, died of heart failure at her home in Carlsbad on Friday. She was 86.
Saftig was a past president of Angelitos de Oro, which is the Orange chapter for Big Brothers and Big Sisters. She had also volunteered with several organizations to support the war effort during World War II.
Saftig is survived by her daughter, Jean Reed Ward of Palm Desert; her son, Thomas Carmack Saftig of Carlsbad; her stepdaughter, Marilyn Hubbard Newell of Palo Alto; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Fairhaven Memorial Cemetery in Santa Ana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Angelitos de Oro, P.O. Box 1802 Newport Beach, CA 92663.
