Plummer Hit Hard Off the Field
Arizona State quarterback Jake Plummer says he’d rather face a pass rush than what he’s gone through so far this week: theft of his car.
Plummer’s car was stolen last Friday night after he had left to join teammates in preparing for the next night’s game with Oregon. He wasn’t told of the theft until after Arizona State’s 48-27 victory.

Auburn Coach Terry Bowden was back home preparing for this weekend’s game only 24 hours after successful surgery to repair a ruptured disk in his neck.
He’s expected to return to work today, when he’ll probably observe practice from the balcony outside his office. Bowden should be able to attend Saturday’s game against South Carolina.

Oregon tailback Jerry Brown will be sidelined for about five weeks because of a broken hand suffered in practice, leaving redshirt freshman Derien Latimer as the lone healthy tailback.

Because of a potential conflict with major league baseball, San Diego State has moved its home game with Hawaii from Oct. 12 to Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.
If the San Diego Padres advance to the National League Championship Series, they will have a home game on Oct. 12.
