Library Offers Play About MacArthur

Share

Efrem Zimbalist Jr. is scheduled to portray Gen. Douglas MacArthur at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library this weekend in a reenactment of MacArthur’s final visit to the West Point military academy.

The play “MacArthur at West Point” re-creates a 1962 news conference that MacArthur--then a fading war hero and two-time presidential candidate--gave at the United States Military Academy in upstate New York.

Zimbalist, best-known for his work on the television series “The FBI,” will play MacArthur as he responds to questions from a member of the press. The reporter is to be played by Tony Thomas, who wrote the play.
