What began as a routine traffic stop in Castaic ended with the arrests of three men for alleged possession of a large quantity of methamphetamines, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported.

The men were traveling on Castaic Road in a Ford truck about 8:55 p.m. Wednesday when they were stopped for a traffic violation, said Lt. Larry Gump of the Santa Clarita sheriff’s station.

A search of the vehicle turned up 25 pounds of uncut methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $400,000, and a loaded 9-millimeter handgun, he said.
