Quarterback Jose Laureano threw for two touchdowns and the Wolfpack scored the first 24 points and cruised to a 34-8 victory at College Park, Md.
Laureano completed 12 of 19 passes for 175 yards before coming out in the fourth quarter. He took advantage of great field position all afternoon, as the Wolfpack (1-3, 1-2) began eight of 14 possessions inside Maryland territory, and another on the 50.
The win broke N.C. State’s three-game losing streak, and gave them 10 victories in their last 12 games against Maryland (2-3, 0-2).
The Terrapins gained only 61 yards through the first three quarters and didn’t cross midfield until 14:50 left in the game. Maryland had gone eight consecutive quarters without advancing past midfield.
The Wolfpack’s Marc Primanti was successful on both of his field goal attempts, extending his own school record to 15 straight and pulling within one of Dale Castro’s ACC record.
