A man shot and killed his ex-wife Wednesday in a parking structure after the couple left the Compton courthouse, where they had disagreed over their divorce settlement, Compton police said.

The couple was in court because the husband had fallen behind on his spousal support payments.

After the court hearing, Clabe Harris, 64, obtained a handgun from his vehicle, police said. He shot his wife, Roberta Harris, 69, once in the chest as she entered the parking structure, next to the courthouse at 200 W. Compton Blvd., accompanied by her daughter and her attorney. She died at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center.
