POULTNEY, Vt. —
A newborn boy, found in the wastebasket of a college dorm, was in good condition Wednesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The baby, covered in paper towels, was found by a Green Mountain College student who heard his cries Tuesday, said Dean of Students Gary Derr.
Vermont State Police took the 4-pound infant and his mother, 18-year-old sophomore Eula Dickerson, to Rutland Regional Medical Center, said police. An officer said charges of abandoning an infant are anticipated.
