Two men arrested this week in connection with at least some of the 243 window shatterings on Los Angeles freeways remained in Los Angeles County Jail on Friday while authorities prepared to file charges against them as early as Tuesday for throwing objects at vehicles, according to the district attorney’s office.

Jose Soto, 21, and Hugo Hernandez, 22, were being held without bail for possessing weapons in violation of their probation. A hearing on that matter, first set to take place Friday, was rescheduled for the end of next week, said spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons.

After a Thursday news conference about the pair’s arrest, investigators with the California Highway Patrol said calls to their much-publicized Vandal Apprehension Task Force hotline reached 509.
