‘Dr. Ruth’ Will Begin Lecture Series

Sex therapist Ruth Westheimer, known as “Dr. Ruth” to her audience, will kick off the 1996-97 lecture series at the Stephen S. Wise Temple.

The title of Tuesday’s lecture will be “Sexually Speaking.” Admission is open to those age 17 and over.

On Nov. 12, Los Angeles Mayor Richard Riordan will speak on “Crime and Violence in Los Angeles: Working Toward Public Safety.” Radio talk-show host Dennis Prager will address “How Good Can We Make Our Kids?” on Dec. 3 and radio personality Dr. Laura Schlessinger will speak on “Why Bother Being Jewish: Thoughts on Relationships and Families in the Modern Era” on Jan. 14.

The series will finish Feb. 25 with Michael Milken, former junk-bond king and founder of the Assn. for the Cure of Cancer of the Prostate, presenting “Rethinking the War on Cancer: Moving From a War of Attrition to a Plan of Attack.”

All lectures will be held at 8 p.m. at the synagogue, 15500 Stephen S. Wise Drive. Cost is $75 for the entire series or $18 per lecture for adults and $5 for students. For more information, call (818) 788-4778, Ext. 2213.
