Chinese Dissident Flees to Colony

A veteran Chinese dissident has fled to Hong Kong and is seeking political asylum abroad, a friend of the democracy campaigner said. Wang Xizhe arrived in Hong Kong on Saturday from southern China, said Chan Sze-keung, a teacher. Radio Television Hong Kong reported that he is seeking asylum in the United States. Wang, one of China’s earliest dissidents, has been in and out of jail and labor camps since 1974.
