Sitting pretty takes on a new dimension with this settee by Sally Sirkin Lewis for J. Robert Scott.
Lewis, known for her tailor-like details on furniture and fabrics, has created a Pillowed Diamonds upholstery pattern that looks like quilted silk but is actually a woven lofted wool fill and silk matelasse.
“[Lewis] thinks of couture fashion when she designs fabrics and furniture,” says company spokeswoman Valerie Shields. “Her attention to detail is key.”
The Deanna settee ($9,650)--part of the Renaissance collection, which encompasses about 300 new fabrics and trimmings--has a high-polish English sycamore veneer. It is classic, with contemporary stylings on the sides and back.

It’s a small world after all.
Growing Up Smart has introduced a computer table to meet the growing demand for child-size furnishings.
The table’s height can be easily raised or lowered, thanks to adjustable side panels, to appropriately fit youth from 4 to 18. An adult can even sit at it because its maximum height is the standard desk height of 29 inches.
“It’s easy to move the screws; you can use a butter knife,” says Pat Flynn, designer and owner of the Irvine-based company.
The computer table ($275), which will be featured in the November issue of HomePC magazine, is made of a high-density fiberboard that has been laminated for easy care and cleanup.
