Dolphin Buys Product Line of ToolWorks

Dolphin Interconnect Solutions of Westlake Village has purchased BBN Corp.’s ToolWorks product line.

One of the ToolWorks products, the TotalView debugger, is a widely used commercial programming tool for high-performance computing systems.

Company officials said the transaction will enable Dolphin to broaden its strategy of providing hardware and software building blocks to original equipment manufacturers and system integrators. Financial details were not disclosed.

The ToolWorks acquisition complements an earlier move in which Dolphin acquired intellectual property rights and key engineering staff from Kendall Square Research. Dolphin also announced technology partnerships with Sun Microsystems, Novell, Data General, Unisys and Siemens-Nixdorf.
