Several Locations Offer Free Flu Shots

Free flu shots will continue to be available to seniors and all others who qualify, at various locations throughout the San Fernando Valley through Dec. 6. The immunizations are offered by the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services in cooperation with the American Red Cross.

This year, flu season begins at about the same time as last year, said Jaya Koilpillai Greene, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Red Cross. The target population for the services are seniors, as well as anyone with chronic illnesses such as cardiovascular, pulmonary and renal diseases or people considered more susceptible to the flu, Greene said.

Flu shots will be offered at 60 locations countywide. Appointments are not necessary. For information and to verify the date and time call: (888) 575-3437. Immunizations will be available at these locations in the San Fernando and nearby valleys in the next few days:

* First Neighborhood Community Center, 31830 Village Center Road, Westlake Village, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

* Verdugo Hills Hospital, 1812 Verdugo Blvd., Glendale, from 7 to 10 a.m.

THURSDAY

* ONE Valley Senior Citizen and Resource Center, 18255 Victory Blvd., Reseda, from 9 to 11 a.m.

* Santa Clarita Senior Center, 22900 Market St., Newhall, from 9 to 11 a.m.

FRIDAY

* Canoga Park Senior Center, 7320 Jordan Ave., from 9 to 11 a.m.

MONDAY

* West Valley Jewish Community Center, 22622 Vanowen St., West Hills, from 1 to 3 p.m.

* Joslyn Adult Center, 1301 W. Olive Ave., Burbank, from 9 to 11 a.m.

TUESDAY

* Northeast Valley Multipurpose Senior Center, 11300 Glenoaks Blvd., Pacoima, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

* Palmdale Senior Center, 1002 E. Avenue Q-12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

* St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1020 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale, from 9 a.m. to noon.

The following locations will offer free flu shots through Dec. 6:
