King update--Where did the power play go? “Power-less play,” Coach Larry Robinson said Wednesday. It is one for 11 in the last three games, and the lone goal came with a five-on-three advantage. The Kings have lost consecutive games after a three-game winning streak. Forwards Vladimir Tsyplakov and Vitali Yachmenev are off the injured-reserve list and are eligible to return tonight. Robinson still has to decide whether they will play, and if they do, who sits out. Defenseman Philippe Boucher has not been cleared to return from a sprained right shoulder and remains on injured reserve.

Oiler update--Making a strong early impression is left wing Rem Murray, the Kings’ fifth-round draft choice in 1992 who went unsigned. Murray, before Wednesday’s games, was third among the NHL rookie scoring leaders with two goals and six points in nine games. The Oilers signed him as a free agent in September 1995. Edmonton is led in scoring by center Jason Arnott’s 11 points, and left wing Ryan Smyth already has seven goals. Defenseman Kevin Lowe (strained neck), did not make the trip, nor did defenseman Jeff Norton (bruised ankle).
