Share

Thirty students at Buena High School were named AP Scholars by the College Board in recognition of exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Examinations.

Five of the students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning grades of 3 or above on five or more AP exams, with an average exam grade of at least 3.5. The Distinction Award recipients are: Sean Askay, Devon Bleak, Alice Hsu, John Liu and Parveen Parmar.

The advanced placement tests, which students take in May after completing college-level courses at their high schools, are graded on a 5-point scale. Most of the nation’s colleges and universities award credit and/or placement for grades of 3 or higher, and more than 1,300 institutions award a year of credit (sophomore standing) to students with a sufficient number of qualifying grades.
