Houston running back Eddie George, who gained 77 yards Sunday, is on a pace to break Earl Campbell’s Oiler rookie rushing mark of 1,450 yards set in 1978. He has 717 yards midway through the season. Some of the best rookie runners of all-time:

Panther Pete Metzelaars set an NFL record for most games played by a tight end. Metzelaars, whose professional career began in 1982, broke Rodney Holman’s mark of 211.

Barry Sanders gained only 47 yards in 16 carries against the Giants. It marked the first time in his career Sanders has gone six consecutive games without a 100-yard rushing performance.

Adrian Murrell’s 199 yards were a Jet single-game record, eclipsing the 192-yard effort of Freeman McNeil on Sept. 15, 1985. McNeil also holds the season record at 1,131 yards, and Murrell has 744.

Coach Mike Holmgren is 23-4 in Green Bay, one game better than the record of Vince Lombardi in his first 27 games there.
