Alvin Ray Milton, 22, a receiver who caught the game-winning touchdown pass in Southwestern Oklahoma State’s 19-15 victory over East Central Oklahoma on Saturday night, was one of four Bulldog athletes who died in a traffic accident early Sunday.

Milton and basketball players Charles Edward Gulley Jr., 22, and Cornelious Chiles, 20, were pronounced dead at the scene after the car driven by Gully slid out of control during a blinding thunderstorm and was struck by a tractor-trailer on I-40 near Hydro, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. Junior college transfer Telly Ramon Gatewood, 19, died later at the hospital.

An ambulance that took running back Danyell Ferguson to the hospital during Miami’s game at West Virginia was rocked and almost tipped over by rowdy fans, Miami officials said.

Players were pelted with debris by fans during pregame warmups, the officials said, and linebackers coach Randy Shannon was knocked to the ground after the game when he was hit on the head by a trash can thrown from the second level of the stadium.
