Research Engineers Inc.: The Yorba Linda engineering software company reported that net income for the second quarter ended Sept. 30 climbed to $288,000, or 6 cents a share, from $109,000, or 3 cents a share, for the comparable quarter last year. Revenue increased 56%, to $2.5 million, from $1.6 million. First-half net income rose to $428,000, or 9 cents a share, from $166,000, or 4 cents a share, for the first six months of fiscal 1996. Revenue was up 50%, to $4.5 million, from $3 million.
