Governor’s Thanks: Gov. Pete Wilson is scheduled to pay a visit to the Grossman Burn Center in Sherman Oaks today to say thanks to three firefighters still hospitalized after last week’s Malibu fire. . . . Two of the firefighters were in good condition following skin graft surgery Monday (B4). A third, Glendale’s William Jensen, remains in critical condition.

Sign of the Times: Calabasas auto dealer Eric Libman placed a sign last week outside his California Cars dealership reading “Thanks, Firefighters.” Libman was on a test drive when the Calabasas-Malibu fire started and was impressed with the response. . . . “The community has responded to the sign,” which hangs along the Ventura Freeway, he said. “Everyone wants to voice their support for these guys.”

Nonstop Cop: Marilyn Cisneros, above, is all eyes and ears around Glendale’s Hoover High School campus. . . . As a school “resource officer,” she is one of hundreds of officers nationwide assigned by police departments to work full-time at neighborhood schools (B12). . . . Glendale’s program is among California’s oldest.

On the Road: For the third time in about a year, the Los Angeles City Council plans to travel to the San Fernando Valley today for a meeting at Valley College in Van Nuys. The 10 a.m. meeting at Monarch Hall will include numerous matters of Valley interest. . . . The council last met in the Valley in July in Sylmar. Columnist Scott Harris (B1) looks back at that session.
