Toledo’s Perspective Works This Time

Share

Before last Saturday’s game at Berkeley, Coach Bob Toledo put California and its 5-1 record in perspective for the Bruins:

“When we were playing Tennessee, they were playing San Jose State. And when we were playing Michigan, they were playing Nevada Reno. And when we were playing Arizona State, they were playing Oregon. They played San Diego State without San Diego State’s best running back, and they played SC when they had several people out.”

The idea was that UCLA, at 2-4, could match up against the Bears. The Bruins did in a 38-29 victory.

UCLA defensive end Darren Cline re-injured his ankle Saturday and is doubtful this week against Stanford. Safety Shaun Williams, who injured his knee in practice last week, remains doubtful. . . . Saturday’s game starts at 3:30 in the Rose Bowl and it is homecoming.
