Apria Healthcare Continues Turnaround in 3rd Quarter

Health care provider Apria Healthcare Group Inc. posted a profit of $20.7 million, or 40 cents a share, for the third quarter, a turnaround from a loss of $112.2 million, or $2.32 a share, a year ago. The third-quarter loss last year included $169.2 million related to the merger of Abbey Healthcare Group Inc. and Homedco Group Inc. to form Apria.

Third-quarter revenue was up 10% to $306 million from $277.7 million.

For the first nine months, net income totaled $63 million, or $1.20 a share, contrasted with a net loss of $91.9 million, or $1.98 a share, for the same period a year ago. Revenue rose 7% to $907.9 million from $849.6 million.
