Ilona C. Reeves; Santa Paula Resident 53 Years

Ilona C. Reeves, 87, a longtime resident of Santa Paula, died Monday at St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo of a stroke.

Reeves was born Aug. 21, 1909, in Wellington, Texas, and came to Santa Paula 53 years ago.

“She spent all her time at the Westside Baptist Church,” said her son, Jim Reeves of Santa Paula. “She was involved in all their activities when they called on her.”

She was a homemaker her entire life. Preceding her in death was her husband, Manford, in 1989 and a daughter, Rhudean in 1967.

In addition to Jim Reeves, she is survived by sons Calvin and Sam Reeves of Santa Paula, Denver Reeves of Concord and Matt Reeves of Lompoc; four sisters; four brothers; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Her daughter-in-law, Gabie Reeves, is running for City Council.

Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Pierce Brothers Stetler Mortuary in Santa Paula. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Santa Paula Cemetery with Pastor Ken Bevel of Westside Baptist Church officiating.
